| My Story: |
I was born and raised going to church here at Eastside every Sunday and Wednesday and many days in between. When the doors were open, I was there. Because of that, as I began to go through Elementary School, I thought that my attendance and involvement would satisfy God’s expectation for me. However, as I moved into Middle School, the Holy Spirit began to reveal to me that going to church couldn’t resolve the sin I was born with. My pride became a problem and was a stumbling block for me publicly professing my need for forgiveness and repentance. The Holy Spirit continued to work and my flesh continued to fight, but on March 17, 1981, at a Revival service, I gave way to the work of the Holy Spirit and repented of my sins gave my heart to Jesus.
As I served the Lord in our Youth Ministry, working in Vacation Bible School, going on Choir Tours and leading Backyard Bible Clubs, the Lord birth a heart for ministry within me and I answered His call and committed my life to Full-time Christian Service on July 19, 1985. I really didn’t know what line of ministry the Lord was going to place me in, but I just took life one day at a time, following His direction. He led me to apply for a Recreation Internship in the Summer of 1987 and I have been serving in our Recreation Ministry ever since. Growing up at Eastside, I would have never dreamed in a thousand years that the Lord would allow me to serve him here at Eastside, but his graciousness and loving kindness was poured out on me.
As I have grown in the Lord, he has taught me so much about Himself and my place in His family. I have learned to live life one day at a time and to trust Him each step of the way. He has been and will always be faithful to me and my family and I desire to serve Him humbly for the rest of my days. |
